Hello, my name is Stephanie. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Professional Art Therapist. I work from a place of compassion to provide a safe space for you to be seen, heard, and understood.

Human first and therapist second

I view the work I do with humbleness and as a great privilege to witness and listen to your lived experiences as a fellow human. I remain committed as a human first and a therapist second that I will be alongside you with empathy and without judgements during this journey.

Where I come from

I identify myself as a third-culture kid, having been born in Vancouver, raised in Hong Kong and growing up altering between studying in international and local schools and on three continents (in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and Canada). I am multilingual, and I speak English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

I understand what it feels like to have experiences and emotions invalidated and dismissed, to struggle with processing traumas (both little “t” AND big “T”), and coping with multicultural, societal expectations and oppressive systems. This is why I strive to meet people where they are, acknowledge the problem as the problem (not the person!), hold space and support for clients to voice their needs, set boundaries and build authentic, healthy relationships with themselves and others.

What is it like working with me?

Working with me is a collaborative approach, so we are both on the same page and understand how we are moving forward. I will walk you through the process from the beginning so that it feels comfortable and natural with every step. You might notice in our sessions that I often use analogies as I see and conceptualize through metaphorical images, which is helpful in both talk therapy and art therapy!

Three words people often use to describe me are: calm, grounded, and intuitive.

Who I work with

I specialize in working with individuals who have survived trauma or may be struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges and family concerns. I take a special interest in supporting university students and working individuals in their early 20s to 30s with anxiety, self-esteem, and imposter syndrome. While I also have experience working with families, children (3+) and adolescents, I am only working with individuals at the moment and accept clients aged 10+.

What I envision the process to look like:

A therapist is like a mirror, reflecting back so the client could gain clarity, perspectives and more understanding, which sometimes is just what is needed to create positive change.

Stephanie is full in caseload and is not accepting new clients.
