At Decipher Counselling, we work with an anti-oppressive, intersectional framework through Narrative Therapy. We are honoured to be in solidarity with what has shaped people’s lives and collaborate with where folks want to go from here.

We work with folks to build essential coping tools to help them navigate through overwhelming experiences, finding ways for them to practice honouring their hardship and grief, and work alongside them to enhance their emotional literacy. With creative components to find ways out from oppressive systems and address how discrimination, oppression, inequality contribute to mental health at the individual level.

Narrative Therapy

 A non-pathologizing, social justice-oriented approach. This includes how discrimination, oppression, inequality and other societal-level forces/systems contribute to mental health at the individual level. We will be supporting and working with you to question and deconstruct the narratives of the problems you have and move towards embracing and enriching the preferred stories of where you want to be.

Art Therapy

Art Therapy is therapy beyond the arena of words. Art Therapy synthesizes verbal and non-verbal communication and when we begin opening to what creativity can bring into our self-discovery journey, our creations will start revealing personal significance that connect with our lived experiences.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy

EMDR therapy is a unique form of psychotherapy where bilateral stimulation (of eye movements or tapping movements) can help you process a disturbing incident - reducing the vividness and emotion associated with the traumatic incidents. 

Eating Disorder Intuitive Therapy (EDIT™️)

EDIT is a person-centred approach that interweave in practical, compassion and mindfulness exercises, Health At Every Size, and work together to find ways to advocate and take up space while living in a time where diet culture and ‘wellness culture’ isn’t being called out on how it impacts us collectively.

Brainspotting

Where you look affects on how you feel. Brainspotting is a relational, highly attuned therapy where the BSP therapist helps locate, focus, process and release a wide range of emotionally and bodily-based conditions with the client.

Gottman Method Couples Therapy

A practical, emotion-focused, and highly effective approach based on 4 decades of research as an aid for couples therapy. This approach can help couples compassionately manage their conflicts, deepen their friendship and intimacy, and share their life purpose and dreams and with practical interventions.

Play Therapy

Play therapy is to children what counselling is to adults. Play therapy utilizes play, their natural medium of expression, to help them express their feelings more easily through creativity and toys instead of words.

Somatic Experiencing

Somatic experiencing is a body-centered approach to treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Rather than focusing only on thoughts or emotions linked with a traumatic event, it expands to include natural bodily responses.
