#2 Burnout & Recovery | Art Therapy Drop-In Workshops

  • The Post at 750 #110 - 750 Hamilton Street Vancouver, BC, V6B 2R5 Canada (map)

Free Art Therapy Workshops for BIPOC ☁️ rest in the world as it exists...

Hi there~ We designed these workshops for Indigenous, Black, Asian, and/or otherwise racialized folks who may also be neurodivergent, immunocompromised, disabled, queer, and/or trans, and reside in the so-called Vancouver Lower Mainland.

🦋 Please join us if you experience financial and/or social barriers to accessing community support or therapy. We are facilitating drop-in sessions where up to 23 participants can gather, learn, and practice mindfulness and therapeutic art skills together, at no cost to you.

🌷Neurodivergent, disabled, queer, and/or trans BIPOC are most affected by the pandemic and systems of oppression, and we want to offer an accessible & protective space for us to gather, connect, and heal.

🏝️workshop 1: let's talk about what rest means to us [Sold Out]

🏝️workshop 2: burnout 😫 & recovery

🏝️workshop 3: ways we find joy

Dates: March 3rd, 17th, and 31st. ☑️Feel free to register for 1, 2, or all 3 workshops. Although each workshop is connected, you're welcome to participate in any single workshop 🐚

Location: East Studio at 110 - 750 Hamilton St, Vancouver, BC V6B 2R5. 📍The Post at 750 is wheelchair accessible via an elevator. 🦽 Please email bysunnychen@gmail.com with your full name to request elevator access (The Post at 750 requires us to let them know at least 72 hours in advance). The East Studio holds up to 25 people comfortably, so if you're unable to attend a workshop, please cancel your registration so another community member may register for the spot.

😷 Masks are mandatory because we respect each other's health & wellbeing. We care about community members who are immunocompromised and/or disabled. 📝 If you have a fever or aches & chills, please stay home & rest up for our next workshop. Thank you 🫶

🍊🍩 We have snacks! Please bring your own reusable water bottle.

facilitators:

Sun (they/them): a neurodivergent, trans-nonbinary Indian immigrant and registered clinical counsellor and art therapist. Sun aims to decolonize therapy by basing it more on the healing that comes from human connection and community, rather than clinical assessments. They specialize in generational trauma as well as QTBIPOC as they themself have lived experiences regarding these topics. They are excited to pursue their passion projects around creating a safe space and healing community for folks that have been unable to find a place to be as they are. 📧 Contact: sun@deciphercounselling.com

Sunny (they/them): a neurodivergent, queer, nonbinary 1st generation Chinese settler (immigrant) on Coast Salish lands. Sunny makes art to process trauma and document their healing. They’ve organized an inclusive and accessible music festival to prioritize QTBIPOC and SA/DV survivors, DIY art & music shows, a series of free digital skills workshops (in partnership with the Vancouver Public Library), and a fundraiser in response to the 2021 Atlanta spa shootings. 📧 Contact: bysunnychen@gmail.com
